He’s probably one of the best directors working anywhere in choral music. What he has done at Eton and with the choral courses is unbelievable; the number of professional singers that have come out of them is quite astonishing.

It was obvious right from the start of Sunday's concert that Ralph had brought a special blend of understanding and inspiration to the chorus which illumined an incandescent performance. Alan Cooper
The choir of privileged young men of Eton … sing with real passion under Ralph Allwood, and Leo Popplewell is a marvellously poised and secure treble soloist in the Roger-Ducasse motet. The production is first class. Peter Grahame Woolf
It is easy to see why Ralph Allwood is such an important figure in the choral field. Not only does he possess the technical skills of the best choral trainers and conductors but he also has tremendous enthusiasm, charisma and a wonderful sense of humour. Friends of Cathedral Music
Congratulations to Ralph Allwood and the choir for their splendid singing this morning. These were stunning, creative performances, far beyond mere accuracy, balance and clear diction. If only the BBC allowed us to hear such singing each day, it would lift our hearts. Bernard Keeffe
Ralph Allwood, the finest trainer of young choirs in the country today … the Eton Choral Courses bring 250 teenagers to Eton college each summer. The best are then selected for a group called the Rodolfus Choir that gives concerts under Allwood's direction in London and at regional festivals. The Times, London
The standard of choral music in cathedral and collegiate foundations has never been higher. This is in part due to the dedicated work of Ralph Allwood, whose Eton Choral Courses have for many years provided young people, particularly aspiring choral scholars, with the highest quality training in vocal and choral techniques. The Hexam Courant, England
The finest young singers in Britain, all products of the elite Eton Choral Course, and conducted by its founder Ralph Allwood … They are set apart by the force of their expression, power and subtlety … impeccable credentials. The Church Times
Deeply moving and richly satisfying interpretations … delighted the audience with imaginative programming and set the highest standards in unaccompanied choral performance … Ralph Allwood, economical of gesture but in total control of every nuance, balance and dynamics. Eastern Daily Press, Norwich
I haven't been able to move from the telephone this evening as it keeps ringing with people calling in to say what a wonderful day they had and how hugely they had enjoyed the way you and David taught us so much about Bach in general and the B minor mass in particular. It was really inspiring, and a wonderfully innovative workshop. Thank you so much! Everyone loved it, and the practice was a great morale-booster to us all, and won us a number of fans as well. You went to so much trouble to produce those manuscripts, too, which was another bonus. Workshop Organiser
